To the Elders, the war happened only yesterday. Only yesterday had the feud between the Dark and the Light undergone another failed attempt at resolution. Only yesterday had they seen comrades and friends and loved ones murdered by the hands of their enemies. Their blood was still thick and warm on the earth. The newcomers know better. The Elders are ancient, their minds dry and filled with the dusts of times past. They wish only to relive these times, to fall like their companions, to join their loved ones in the Great Horizon.
Perhaps, someday, they will.
Now, generations past, and the war is virtually a figment of the cruelest imagination. The Elders have all but gone, only a few remaining to share their distorted bits of knowledge. Most of the newcomers tend to avoid the topic, choosing to know nothing of it, rather than trying to remember. When pain and loss are entwined to such a great degree, the burden becomes too large for one single soul to bear. They must share it, and the one they share with must share it. A cycle until there is found no one else to share with, and a second war arises because of it.
But a dark force has engulfed the Great Horizon. Violet has turned to black, but no stars twinkle in its midst. The oceans are hissing and gurgling with the pent up anger of the Demon below the rocks. He has gathered his ranks, and he plans to unleash them when the time is right. Those above are oblivious.
For now, all is quiet. The wounds of battle are steadily healing. The scars, however, will always be present. A last reminder of what once was, and what one must pray will never again be.
